Not for me: Had a “dead” CBRN 3X after 1.5 years of use and decided to try the foam upgrade.
Handle shape (pronounced angles) distracted my play, even with cushion over wrap applied.
I could not control depth or placement after 3 sessions, even with varying weights added/removed.
I’m probably the exception, but very happy with the return policy and getting an exact replacement of my original 3X, which resolved the problem I initially had!
Ok, but not great.: As the title says, I found the paddle to be ok, but not great. I REALLY wanted to like it as it is the new technology and the "cool kid", but I really struggled with consistency. It was fine on the power/ pop end, but I just couldn't get my drops and dinks dialed in. The YouTube reviewers all suggested adding weight so I tried every about every combination that made sense up to adding enough to give me a 9.5 oz paddle! I also didn't like the shape of the handle (too wide and
SO good on so many levels. It does everything: If you've played with any of the "X" series paddles, these do (literally) everything better. They have a lovely, softer feel than the X series, which very often felt stiff for me out of the box. Power is up probably 30%... not as lively as a Mod or GB, but in a very controllable way that rewards good swing mechanics. Spin is ridiculous... definitely the "spinniest" paddle I've ever played with. Every time I play there are a few occasions where I thi
Main Paddle for Rec and Tournament Play: The CRBN TF 2 paddle is the best paddle I've used that combines both power and control. The power is great without being uncontrollable. The other best feature for me is the vibration absorption due to its foam core. Whereas other stiffer core paddles give me pickleball elbow, this one does not.
Wow: Love it. Only took me a couple of games and drill sessions to completely fall in love.
The CRBN TruFoam Genesis 2 is my favorite in the Genesis line because it has the best control, forgiveness, and speed while only sacrificing a little power compared to the elongated models. I recommend it to any intermediate or advanced player with a big budget who likes to play quickly and aggressively at the kitchen. If you don't mind sacrificing some forgiveness for a little more power, try the elongated Genesis 1 and 3 models instead.
