I have used this paddld for a year and it has performed well. It was my first "higher end" paddle so I can compare it to other, more expensive paddles but I would buy again.

Onix
The Onix Z5 Graphite receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, with users consistently praising its excellent balance of power and control, comfortable grip, and large sweet spot that makes it suitable for players from beginner to advanced levels. The paddle's lightweight design, good "pop" off the face, and ability to generate spin are frequently highlighted as key strengths. The main drawbacks mentioned include occasional durability issues with the edge guard coming loose after extended play, some paddles arriving lighter than the advertised weight range, and a few reports of quality control inconsistencies between different production batches.

Don’t like this racquet at all: Handle too short weird sound when you hit the ball

Good Paddle for all around play. Loud.: Played with the Z5 for over 3 years on and off. Overall it was a good paddle. I think it is good for beginner and intermediate play, and there are better rackets for advanced players and above. Power was adequate, spin was moderate at best. The racket is loud compared to other rackets. The racket does not have a great soft touch, so dinking requires good technique.

OK BUT: paddle is slim and does not povide much power or good spin

Great paddle for a beginner: This was the first paddle I bought when I started playing 18 months ago at age 65. I found it to be very reliable and well suited while learning to play the game. I am now able to hit for power, control my shots, and effectively spin the ball as well. I purchased the paddle online and the price point was reasonable... not cheap, but affordable for a beginner. Wish paddles came with a stylish cover, but found one online from another source cost effectively.

Handle size: I have small hands and this grip fits comfortably.

Second Z5 racket...: This is my second one, I like the feel of it and the ball control. What I don't like is the way the handle is made, my first one the handle broke in half, I think you need a stronger material in the handle section instead of two pieces of foam. Handle has same honey comb core as the paddle with the same face material which has two pieces of close cell foam over that, not much strength.

Pickleball Paddle review: Got interested in pickleball and decided to take it up on a regular basis during the winter months for exercise. Purchased the Onix (newer model) Z5 Paddle and find it to be a great paddle for a beginner turning intermediate player. Very pleased with my choice.

Onix Z5 graphite paddle: A lot of bang for the buck. Like it so far. Has some serious pop, which I noticed on the first return of serve. Was an easy adjustment after that. The added power is helpful for any 3.0-3.5 player who doesn’t want to break the bank for a new weapon.

Great overall paddle!: Started playing in August of 2023. My first paddle. Have since bought another paddle and used others. I keep going back to the Z5. Lots of power, durable face, and reliable. Added some lead tape, and an overgrip once the original grip began to wear. (Playing 4+ times per week) Paddle is now even better IMO.

Great power, pop, control and spin: Upped my game from the first time I played with it!

Decent: It's fine if you like a paddle that tends heavy and wide. I'm glad I tried it because it helped me clarify that a paddle build to optimize a large sweet spot leaves me feeling like I'm playing pong - just trying to deflect the ball in the right direction. I now play with a Bantam TS-5. The polymer honeycomb core is more responsive and the lighter weight allows for more finesse, but I don't lose out on power too much due to the fiberglass face (and I can't just drive every ball anyway

My Favorite!: I'm new to the game of pickleball and tried a couple of different paddles before determining which would be my go-to. This one quickly became my favorite. Having a tennis background, the handle felt familiar which helped me feel more comfortable playing. The fun color options are also a plus!

Onix Z5: I was so excited to get this paddle and it had improved my game. It hits solid and I can be more aggressive. However, after 1 month the handle is falling apart and the tape is coming off so I’m sadly returning it. ***PBC Response*** Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Z5 Onix: I like the control and ability to hit smash shots with more precision. I would give it 5 stars but I have had to dig out carbon/graphite splinters from my hand twice.

Great paddle for any age!: Love our Z5 paddles! They are a great all-around paddle that both I and my kids can use as we learn Pickleball. The colors and design are sharp - we get a lot of comments about the color options (we have red, yellow and blue) when we're on the court!

Not what I expected.: I read all those glowing reviews detailing what an exceptional paddle the Z5 was. Lesson learned. Don't believe everything you read. Tape is already coming off the handle. The grip seems smaller than I had hoped and the paddle is far too light for my taste. All in all, in my opinion, a mediocre paddle at best.

recent purchase: Very disappointed in this paddle. Even as a medium weight, felt very light. Not at all responsive. Even though sweet spot supposed to be large, was very small. Paddle felt very "tinny" and lacked power and feel. Way overpriced. It's going to be on the table at the next garage sale. ***PBC Response*** Hey David, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! The Z5 Is A Great Paddle For A Beginner : I'm not a paddle or a pickleball expert. I've been playing for a year, here and there but I was never serious about it. I had wood paddles that were good. But heavy. people were starting to love pickleball so I tried it. I went to a pickleball restaurant to try it, and my mom bought a net so we could play in our driveway. I tried one of the paddles at the restaurant and I thought "I need a new paddle." I ordered the Z5 and fell in love with it immediate

Best Pickleball Paddle for New Players: Best Pickleball Paddle for new players with an athletic background. The Z5 offers a great combination of power (pop) and control and is really a great pickleball paddle for beginning players. I've played hundreds of paddles and the Z5 takes the cake for a great paddle for players learning the sport.

Great Mid-Range Paddle: I'm just getting started in pickleball having only a little bit of prior experience playing tennis in high school. I wanted to start out with a good mid range paddle and the majority of the umpteen-million reviews on these are positive. So far so good. It's nice and light without feeling cheap. Decent sweet spot. It is a bit loud, making that distinctive pop when you hit a good shot in the sweet spot. It can get a bit annoying I'm sure, but I like that immediate fee
