Hollow sound, too different: I could not find the sweet spot on drives & volleys. It did serve well and you could make a serve spin. Terrible hollow sound and no good feedback. This paddle is different than anything I have tried and I have many Gen3 and Gen4 paddles.
The excellent paddle: A racquet with good power and balanced control. This is the best racquet I've ever had. My game has improved a lot with it.
Awesome paddle, service is questionable: I've played with Joola paddles for several years, but tried the Selkirk Boomstik thinking I'd just send it back and exchange it for a Joola IV. I fell in love with the Boomstik! Power, for sure, but somehow it feels like I have more control. The spin is a big reason! I've only had it a couple of weeks, but it's raised my level already. Resets have improved!
The issue I have is small lines are forming on the surface near the edges, not sure if these a
Broomstick paddle: I love this paddle, it improves my game. However, after just a few weeks playing grit started damping. I have a cheaper Honolulu paddle and it’s still in very good condition after a year. I’m not sure if it’s a normal process, but Selkirk claims its grit should last 3 times longer, which is not a case. Sent it back. Got a refund. Pickleball warehouse is a great company.
Fantastic Paddle -great power and control: The most powerful paddle i have ever played with and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was at controlled shots at the kitchen. I highly recommend this paddle . Note: i also have and highly recommend the widebody boomstik.
Boomstick: Great power , spin, control ! Love it
TOO MUCH: TOO MUCH DAMN MONEY FOR A PADDLE
Too Heavy: This paddle is the best in the Selkirk line. The only downside is the permanent weights attached to the edge guard. Players have the ability to add weight to any paddle, and place them in a preferred spot. This paddle does not allow that. Hopefully, Selkirk will offer a newer version of this technology without the added weight, and produce 7.5-8.0 oz Boomstiks.
An elite power paddle with standout spin and forgiveness for its class. Price and pop make it tricky for some, but if money’s no object and you crave top-tier offense, the Boomstik delivers.
